Planning permission secured in Greetland, Halifax

Posted by JRP_Admin on 14 April 2026

We’re pleased to have secured planning permission for a 4-dwelling scheme in Greetland, Halifax — on a Green Belt site 👀

So how did we do it?

➡️ In the context of a lack of 5-year housing land supply, demonstrating the site constitutes “grey belt” land — land that makes a limited contribution to Green Belt purposes and can be considered suitable for development.
➡️ Ensuring the application was accompanied by robust technical and policy justification from the outset and working with the planning department to address any issues swiftly and comprehensively.

This is exactly where planning is evolving right now — with national policy opening the door to well-argued schemes on the right Green Belt sites. Not all Green Belt is created equal… and with the right strategy, sites once considered “no-go” can become deliverable opportunities.

At JR Planning, we specialise in unlocking tricky sites — whether it’s Green Belt, grey belt, or anything in between.
